The Inner Guide Counsellor

My Journey

I'm Helen. Amongst my other roles such as mum, daughter and friend I'm also a guide and spiritual being.

I understand what it's like to feel troubled and alone even when you're surrounded by others, have no direction, feel a loss of purpose and carry emotional pain around for so long that you begin to wish you were no longer here on this planet.

I battled on my own for many years trying to understand and  work through my thoughts and feelings and having OCD didn't help either. Losing a mother suddenly in my teenage years sent me on a downward spiral of depression, substance abuse, self harm and attempted suicide. In my later years I became a Mum myself and dark thoughts and feelings once again reappeared but this time I had a little boy to look after. Eventually someone noticed I needed help and made some calls. I had previously met a few counsellors along the way who I admit just didn't get me but then I was introduced to a wonderful counsellor who truly wanted to understand and he helped me find direction. It was at this point that I realised I needed to love myself more but in order to do this I had to challenge my own inner demons and destructive thought patterns. It wasn't easy and sometimes I was so mentally drained I felt I couldn't go on. My Counsellor never left my side through the battle and I distinctively remember telling him on my last session "Thank you for helping me to save myself". It was very weird getting to know a new Helen and feeling comfortable with her but when I look back now it can sometimes feel like the old me never really existed and that she was just a figure of my imagination. Some of her old traits are there but the improved Helen knows how to keep those shadows in check when they come out to play.

My spiritual journey also began many years ago. I was always drawn to the mystery of the occult and I felt connected to the universe but wasn't sure how to embrace it. Through my curiosity I met a number of wonderful spiritual mentors who guided me to developing myself on a spiritual level and the wonders of energy healing, meditation, starseeds, astrology, human design and much more. These metaphysical tools provided a foundation for exploring and appreciating another side of me that had laid dormant and together with the benefits of counselling I started to become a more well rounded, accepting person with much gratitude for life and the person my soul wants to be.

So that is what I'm here to do....be with you on your journey. I'm not here to tell you want to do or give advice but to help guide you in developing your own awareness of who you really are, to find inner peace, acceptance, forgiveness and trust your inner guide to direct you in ways that are empowering. I truly believe we all have an inner guide or personal therapist (whatever you prefer to call it) inside ourselves, we just need to find it, trust it and know we are enough.  We often become burdened by what others think and how we are perceived which then leaves us little time and energy to focus on what is really important for us.

My own journey of self discovery continually evolves and we never stop learning about ourselves and others. I have connected with some wonderful souls over the years who have inspired and encouraged me to connect more with my inner wisdom and the universe in order to embrace my higher self.  A few years ago I was introduced to 'The Optimist Creed' by Christian D. Larson, it continually reminds me to not ignore the daily realities of life but how to make the best of them each day.
